Admissions up to the sanctioned strength of the class will be completed within 30 days of the CBSE results declaration, with approval from the Deputy Commissioner.
- The Principal will provide registration forms free of charge. However, for Class I, registration will be conducted online through the Online Admission Portal once the portal is active.

Reservation in KVS Admission 2024-25
A. SCHEDULED CASTE, SCHEDULED TRIBE, AND OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES CATEGORY
- 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
- 7.5% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
- 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) candidates.
B. Children with Special Needs (CwSN) Category
Additionally, 3% of the total available seats for fresh admission will be horizontally reserved for Children with Special Needs (CwSN).
Process of KVS Admission 2024-25 in Class-I
Out of the total available seats for fresh admissions, the following reservation quotas apply:
- 25% of seats are reserved for students under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
- 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
- 7.5% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
- 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) candidates.
After admitting students under the RTE Act followed by Children with Special Needs (CwSN), the admissions process will prioritize children belonging to Cat-1. Students admitted under Cat-1 will also include those from SC/ST/OBC-NCL categories. Similarly, after the admission of Cat-1 students, admissions for Cat-2 will be processed, which will also include SC/ST/OBC-NCL students. This process will continue up to Cat-3 in the case of Project/IHL School.
To calculate the shortfall in the number of candidates for seats reserved for SC, ST, and OBC-NCL, we need to consider the number of SC/ST/OBC-NCL children admitted under the RTE quota and Priority Cat-1 and Cat-2.
The reservation norms apply within an approved class strength of 32 students per section:
- RTE (25%): 8 seats
- SC (15%): 5 seats
- ST (7.5%): 2 seats
- OBC (27%): 8 seats
Additionally, 3% of seats are reserved horizontally for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) applicants.
Once the admissions under the RTE quota, Priority Cat-1, and Cat-2 are completed, any remaining seats reserved for SC, ST, and OBC-NCL will be filled based on the shortfall, considering the number of SC/ST/OBC-NCL children admitted under these categories.
After the registration process closes, the sequence of conducting the lottery by each Kendriya Vidyalaya for fresh admissions to Class I will be as follows:
a) RTE Lottery: The first lottery will be conducted to fill seats reserved under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
b) All CwSN Lotteries: The second lottery will be conducted for Children with Special Needs (CwSN).
c) CAT-I: The third lottery will be conducted for Priority Category Cat-I applicants.
d) CAT-II: The fourth lottery will be conducted for Priority Category Cat-II applicants.
e) SC: The fifth lottery will be conducted for Scheduled Caste (SC) applicants.
f) ST: The sixth lottery will be conducted for Scheduled Tribe (ST) applicants.
g) OBC: The seventh lottery will be conducted for Other Backward Classes (OBC) applicants.
h) CAT-III: The eighth lottery will be conducted for Priority Category Cat-III applicants.
i) CAT-IV: The ninth lottery will be conducted for Priority Category Cat-IV applicants.
j) CAT-V: The tenth lottery will be conducted for Priority Category Cat-V applicants.
k) CAT-VI: The eleventh lottery will be conducted for Priority Category Cat-VI applicants, if applicable.
For fresh admissions to Class I in Kendriya Vidyalayas, the sequence of conduct for the lottery will be as follows:
First Lot:
- 8 seats out of 32 seats in each section will be filled according to RTE provisions (25% of seats).
- These 8 seats will be filled by drawing lots from all applications of SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/CwSN residing in the neighborhood.
Second Lot:
- A lottery will be conducted for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) of SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Unreserved categories based on priority category.
Third Lot:
- Remaining seats after deducting RTE and CwSN applicants, if any, will be filled according to the existing Priority Category of Cat-1 and Cat-2.
- This process will continue up to the sanctioned strength or until all registered candidates from Cat-1 and Cat-2 are filled. (Cat-1 to Cat-3 in the case of Project/IHL KV)
Fourth Lot:
- The total number of SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates admitted through RTE, DA, Cat-1, and Cat-2 admissions done until the third phase will be counted.
- Any shortfall in the seats reserved for SC/ST/OBC-NCL will be covered by admitting SC/ST/OBC-NCL applicants according to the order of priorities of admission, regardless of the sanctioned strength.
Fifth Lot:
- If after all previous processes the sanctioned strength is not filled and seats remain vacant, applicants from Priority Cat-3 (Cat-4 in Project/IHL KV) onwards will be considered for admission based on the existing priority list for unreserved seats only.
- The unfilled reserved seats of RTE/SC/ST/OBC-NCL should be left vacant.
Sixth Lot:
- In case an adequate number of candidates are not available for online registration to fill the remaining reserved seats for RTE/SC/ST/OBC, a separate advertisement will be issued by the concerned Kendriya Vidyalaya.
- This advertisement will invite offline registration of candidates belonging to the specific category to fill the shortfall of the reservation quota.
- The candidates registered offline will be admitted based on their Priority Category to fulfill the shortfall of the reservation quota.
- If after this process the reserved seats remain vacant, the following procedure may be adopted:
(a) Seats reserved as per the Right to Education (RTE) will not be de-reserved under any circumstances.
(b) In the case of vacant seats for SC/ST:
- SC/ST seats should be filled after interchanging the seat based on the availability of registered candidates from the available SC/ST social category priority list.
- Vacant SC seats may be filled with ST candidates or vice versa, only if the total number of SC and ST candidates admitted together falls short of the total reserved seats of SC and ST together.
- This aggregation should be obtained by counting all the admitted SC and ST candidates of all categories. For example, if in a single section KV, there are a total of 8 SC/ST seats (5 SC + 3 ST), and suppose 5 SC and 1 ST are already admitted, with no more ST candidates available, then these 2 seats reserved for ST will not be given to SC as 6 SC/ST candidates have already been admitted.
- Clarification: OBC seats cannot be interchanged with SC/ST or RTE seats.
(c) In case of vacant OBC seats:
- After following the process mentioned in para 4(vi), if reserved seats for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) remain unfilled, they may be filled with remaining waitlisted eligible candidates from Priority Categories within the approved class strength.
(d) The definition and eligibility criteria for Disadvantaged Group/Weaker Section/BPL/OBC (Non-creamy layer) will align with the notifications issued by the respective State Governments. The Deputy Commissioner of the concerned Kendriya Vidyalaya Regional Office may provide guidelines regarding BPL/EWS based on the most recent notifications from the State Governments.
(e) Admission tests will not be conducted for Class I.
