An advertisement is a public announcement made through a popular medium like newspapers, magazines, television, radio and cinema. Through advertisement, one can show the advantages or benefits of one’s products / services and try to convince other people.

Advertisements are inserted by leading manufactures, establishments , organisations etc. for the publicity and promotion of their products, services or some events are generally known as Commercial / Display Advertisements.
Classified Advertisement–
Advertisements are printed in the newspapers and magazines under various headings are generally known as Classified Advertisement.
Characteristics of classified Advertisement–
- They are categorised into columns according to different classes.
- They are written in short catchy phrases and words.
- They are short, concise and to the point.
- Language used is simple, factual and formal.
- They include all important matter.
- Contact name and address is given.
- They are written in a box to attract attention.
- An advertisement should be written within 50 words
